<div><p>We're looking to recruit a Scientific and Policy Officer committed to animal welfare to join the RSPCA Farm Animals Department, as a Poultry specialist.&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Contract</strong>: Permanent&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Hours:</strong> 35 hours per week; Monday - Friday.</p>
<p><strong>Location:</strong> Hybrid - You will work from home and will be required to attend a team meeting in the Horsham hub once a month.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The role also requires travel to London on an adhoc basis for meetings.&nbsp;</p>
<p>You will be required to travel to sites and farms for visits, so a full UK Driving License is required for this role.</p>
<p>As a Scientific Officer you'll have a specific focus on poultry and&nbsp;will assist the continued development of the RSPCA's welfare standards for these species, used within the Society's farm assurance scheme (RSPCA Assured) and beyond. The post entails a further general advisory, advocacy and communication role regarding welfare issues for the species concerned.</p>
<p>The RSPCA's&nbsp; Farm Animals Department is responsible for promoting by all practical means the highest standards in farm animal welfare. This includes improving attitudes towards animals, strengthening the laws in relation to farm animals, improving their implementation, developing the RSPCA welfare standards for specific species and progressing the Department's work on Welfare Outcome Assessment.&nbsp;</p>

<div><p>We're on the lookout for two passionate Animal Care Assistant Apprentices to join our dedicated team at the RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre on a 18 month fixed term contract.</p>
<p>At Felledge we&nbsp;care for animals that have been rescued from cruelty or neglect, and rehabilitate and prepare them for a new life with caring and loving adopters.</p>
<p>Our cattery can house more than 60 cats at a time with comfy sleeping areas, toys and scratching posts to keep them occupied until they go to a new home. Many require gentle and careful handling at first as they recover from previous trauma and mistreatment until they realise they are safe.</p>
<p>Our state of the art kennels have been designed to cater specifically for cruelty case dogs that have to stay with us for extended periods, sometimes up to a year, while the court cases are ongoing. With over 40 dogs always on site, walking, socialising and training takes up most of the day to keep them happy and healthy before they start the next chapter of their lives.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Working hours: &nbsp;35 hours per week with 20% dedicated to your qualification. 2 week rolling rota, working every other weekend (study time cannot be on a weekend day). The hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm with a one hour unpaid lunch. It will also involve working bank holidays.</p>

<p>This is an exciting and challenging opportunity at the largest animal welfare charity in the UK as an Animal Care Assistant. Our amazing Animal Care Assistants are critical in the day to day operation of our Animal Centres. You will work as part of a team with our staff and volunteers in providing care, compassion and enrichment and socialisation&nbsp; for all animals in the centre.&nbsp; Our Animal Care Assistants are responsible for the care and rehabilitation of animals who have been rescued from cruelty, abuse and neglect.</p>
<p>You'll start your day cleaning the animals' accommodation,as well as feeding and watering them, and then start the daily exercise routine. It can be physically hard, but also very rewarding and satisfying work knowing the animals are comfortable and happy when you are finished. Our Animal Care Assistants ensure the highest standards of welfare, and will monitor and report on animal behaviour, wellbeing and health. You will also administer medication or treatment prescribed by a Vet, and implement behaviour modification programmes with guidance from our Behaviour and Welfare Advisors and the wider team.</p>
<p>Once the animals in our care are ready for their forever home, you will be involved in the adoption process, helping to find the perfect matched home for the animal you look after. You'll also meet with potential adopters to provide post-adoption advice and support.</p>

<p>An important part of the role will be to develop and maintain relationships with members and industry, and to provide technical and commercial awareness to the Farming Engagement Manager and the Head of Farming Engagement regarding important developments in the aquaculture and agriculture livestock sectors.&nbsp;</p>
<p>As the FATE lead, you will help producers to understand the standards more clearly, and give advice on what changes on farm might be needed.</p>
<p>You will also be responsible for making decisions on:&nbsp;</p>
<ul>
<li>Species-specific input in line with our overall strategy to maximise numbers of animals on the scheme.</li>
<li>Methods to encourage an increase in membership and maintenance of members.</li>
<li>Potential issues arising from the introduction of new standards/legislation; you will help to manage issues at farm level</li>
<li>Provision of species-specific expert knowledge on the standards to members.</li>

<p>We're looking for <strong>two&nbsp;Veterinary Nurses </strong>to join our clinical team at the Birmingham Animal Hospital on a<strong> permanent</strong> and <strong>12-month fixed-term contract.</strong></p>
<p>You'll be working as part of a passionate team of welfare minded clinical staff, reporting into one of our Nursing Team Leaders.</p>
<p>Working hours: 35 hours per week, lending itself to a healthy work/life balance.</p>
<p>Rota are on a shift basis over a 10 week rolling rota giving you the chance to plan ahead for the year.&nbsp;</p>

<li aria-level="1">Evening shifts 2:30pm - 10:00pm</li>
<li aria-level="1">Nights 10:00pm - 8:00am once every 10 weeks for which you'll receive a night shift allowance of 33% of your basic hourly rate.</li>

<p>Birmingham Animal Hospital is located in a charming rural setting amongst 70 acres of countryside, but has excellent motorway access and is 20 minutes drive from central Birmingham. It consists of a friendly and enthusiastic team of 22 Veterinary Nurses, 5 Student Veterinary Nurses, 5 VCAs and 11 Vet Surgeons. The Hospital itself is nice and spacious with modern facilities, and equipment.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The management team are extremely passionate about personal growth, and are always striving to nurture a thriving environment.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Our Veterinary Nurses are integral to the smooth running of the busy hospital. As a Veterinary Nurse you will carry out nursing duties to a unique variety of animal welfare cases predominantly cats and dog s&nbsp;</p>
<p>The hospital works directly to help animals most in need by supporting the work of the RSPCA's Inspectors, animal centres and branches, providing essential veterinary care around the clock.&nbsp;</p>

<li aria-level="1">Work collaboratively to maintain clean environments to minimise disease risks in the hospital environment;</li>
<li aria-level="1">Anaesthetic monitoring, perioperative nursing care and theatre practice working in a busy and modern operating theatre suite;</li>
<li aria-level="1">Maintain up to date and accurate clinical records;</li>
<li aria-level="1">Dispense drugs in accordance with professional guidelines and clinic rules;</li>
<li aria-level="1">Maintaining a high level of clinical hygiene and biosecurity throughout the hospital;</li>

<div>What will help you succeed in this role:</div>
<div><p><strong>Please only apply for this role if you are a qualified Veterinary Nurse registered with the RCVS along with proven previous experience of working in a relevant discipline, for example within a veterinary practice, wildlife rehabilitation, animal centre or similar.</strong></p>
