A bit about us

Do you want to help create a better world for animals?

At the RSPCA, we believe animal welfare is everyone's welfare. Join us in creating a better world for every animal. We can do it if we work together — everyone for every animal. Choose a career with us and make a difference.

We are looking for a new team member to join us as an Administrative Assistant within our Public Fundraising & Mass Engagement team, part of our Engagement and Income Generation Directorate.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in supporting our fundraising events and the supporters who take part in them. You'll help make sure our supporters receive the information, materials and support they need, while providing essential administrative support that helps our events programme run smoothly.

Working hours: 35 hours / Monday – Friday
Location: Horsham, West Sussex with some travel to our London hub.
Hybrid role: Flexibility around you and the needs of the operation. This role requires you to work from our Horsham office at least two days a week, including supporting the fulfilment and dispatch of fundraising materials such as vests, shirts and merchandise to our supporters.

It's important to us that you feel part of our team from the start. We like to keep in touch with regular check-ins and team meetings. There's always a teammate around for support or a quick chat.

Are you ready to join our movement?

Our recruitment journey – key dates for you to note

Here's what the process looks like, no surprises, just a friendly guide:

1. Application

You'll be assessed based on your application to give us a sense of your experience, skills, and potential. Don't worry if you don't tick every box - what really matters is what you can bring to the role and the team.

2. Panel Interview

If your application is successful, you'll be invited to a panel interview with the Hiring Manager. This is a chance to:

  • Share more about what you've done and what you're proud of.
  • Ask questions about the role, the team, and the impact you could make. Interviews are a two-way conversation, and we recognise that any career move needs to feel right for you as well as for us.
  • Show off your skills and behaviours in a relaxed, supportive setting.

If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, just let us know - we're happy to support you.

We think this role is going to be popular and are expecting to attract high interest, so we strongly encourage early applications to avoid missing out. The deadline for applications will be 06/10/2026

What a day might look like for you

Here at the RSPCA, no two days are the same. As an Administrative Assistant, you'll play an important role in helping our fundraising events and supporter activity run smoothly.

You might start your day by responding to supporter enquiries through our team inboxes, helping with questions and making sure anything that needs specialist support is passed to the right person. You could then be preparing and sending fundraising packs, vests, shirts or other merchandise to supporters, making sure everything is accurate and dispatched within the required timescales.

You could also be updating supporter information on Salesforce, coding JustGiving pages, raising invoices or supporting the setup of new suppliers. Alongside this, you'll help manage event stock and materials, ensuring the team has what it needs to deliver successful fundraising activities.

You'll also have opportunities to support our challenge events, including helping with volunteer recruitment, sharing engaging content with our event participants and supporting the Events Manager with the delivery of our event portfolio.

The role involves working with colleagues across the RSPCA, including our animal centres and branches, as well as communicating with supporters, volunteers and suppliers. You'll be an important first point of contact for many of our supporters, helping to make sure they receive a positive and engaging experience throughout their fundraising journey.

What will help you succeed in this role:

We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys helping others. You'll be comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change, and you'll have the confidence to communicate with a wide range of people.

You'll bring:

  • Experience working in an administrative role within a busy working environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage and prioritise your workload.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write engaging and motivational content.
  • A customer-focused approach and experience of engaging with supporters, volunteers, suppliers or colleagues.
  • Good numeracy skills and confidence handling income and expenditure records.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
  • The ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach to your work.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience working within a fundraising or events team.
  • Experience of volunteering or working within a charity.
  • Experience of supporting challenge events.
  • Experience of working with supporter databases such as Salesforce.

Why this role matters

Every supporter interaction is an opportunity to strengthen someone's connection with the RSPCA and help them make a difference for animals.

Whether you're answering an enquiry, sending out a fundraising pack, helping a supporter with their event, updating important supporter information or making sure event stock reaches the right person, your work will directly support our fundraising activity.

You'll be helping our supporters to raise vital income for the RSPCA while ensuring they receive the care, information and stewardship they deserve.

If you're an organised administrator who enjoys working with people and wants your work to have a positive impact on animals, we'd love to hear from you.

Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK as we are unable to sponsor visas.

Final note from us & good luck with your application!

We want to ensure we do all we can to give you a positive candidate experience through our recruitment. Whilst we do try to give feedback where we can, sometimes due to receiving high levels of applications, this may not always be possible

Our vision is a world where all animals are respected and treated with kindness and compassion. Our purpose is to inspire everyone to create a better world for animals. We are building the future of a diverse Society, and our priority is to support animal welfare by finding people from all backgrounds who are committed  to our purpose.  For this reason we actively encourage a wide diversity of applications - in particular from members of minority ethnic groups, and people with disabilities - as these candidates are currently under-represented at the RSPCA. Your transferable skills & lived experiences could make you a valuable addition to our RSPCA Family!

We're here to support you and encourage you to let us know if you need any adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process. Please feel free to contact us at resourcingteam@rspca.org.uk or 0300 123 0685 so we can ensure the process works for you.
