A bit about us

Do you want to help create a better world for animals? At the RSPCA, we believe animal welfare is everyone's welfare. Join us in creating a better world for every animal. We can do it if we work together, everyone for every animal.

Choose a career with us and make a difference.

We are looking for 6 team members to join us as Inspectorate Support Assistants on a full-time, permanent basis!

  • Working hours: 35 hours / Mon - Friday.
  • Hybrid role: Your base will be at our National Control Centre, Wath upon Dearne, Rotherham. The team currently works on a hybrid setup, which is 3 days in the office and 2 at home. (Mondays & Fridays homebased. Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays in the office)

It's important to us that you feel part of our team from the start. We like to keep in touch with regular check-ins and team meetings. There's always a teammate around for support or a quick chat.

Interviews: Are set to take place virtually via Google Meet the week commencing Monday 12th May 2025.

Are you ready to join our movement?

What a day might look like for you

You will provide critical outbound telephone support for our Inspectors and Animal Rescue Officers across the RSPCA.  Following initial contact/calls into our National Control Centre you will be contacting members of the public to obtain further information to assist the Inspectorate or to resolve incidents. This will allow our Inspectors and Animal Rescue Officers to focus on urgent incidents and animals most in need.

As a crucial part of our team, your day will involve managing public and professional expectations during potentially intense situations, requiring active listening and clear communication to decipher key information. You'll utilise RSPCA systems to meticulously record call details, ensuring accuracy for effective follow-up. Collaborating closely with colleagues, you'll maintain service levels and provide expert support in time-sensitive scenarios. This role also includes liaising with external agencies like vets and police,  to gather essential information or arrange joint visits.

What you'll bring:

We think this is a great role and to add value we are seeking a match of these skills, but don't worry if you don't tick every box, we'd still love to hear from you. For a full insight to what the job entails, please see the attached job description.

  • Previous call centre experience is advantageous.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly pick up new systems/applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrate empathy, with the ability to influence and remain calm in difficult and pressurised circumstances.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • A team builder with a passion for excellent delivery.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate effectively within a constantly changing environment.
  • Resilience is key as you will be handling some challenging conversations with diplomacy, professionalism and tact.
  • Employing reason-driven decision-making and being accountable for your actions.

So, if you have a positive can-do approach to daily tasks, an unwavering passion for animal welfare, compassion and integrity, we would love to hear from you!

Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK - We are unable to sponsor visas at RSPCA

Final note from us & good luck with your application!

Due to high interest in some of our roles, we review applications as they are received. This can occasionally result in positions closing earlier than advertised. Therefore, we strongly recommend submitting applications early. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications after the posted closing date.

We want to ensure we do all we can to give you a positive candidate experience through our recruitment. Whilst we do try to give feedback where we can, sometimes due to receiving high levels of applications, this may not always be possible

We are building the future of a diverse Society, and our priority is to support animal welfare by finding people from all backgrounds who are committed  to our mission For this reason we actively encourage a wide diversity of applications - in particular from members of minority ethnic groups, and people with disabilities - as these candidates are currently under-represented at the RSPCA. Your transferable skills & lived experiences could make you a valuable addition to our RSPCA Family!

Should you need any support with your application or interview process please contact resourcingteam@rspca.org.uk / 0300 123 0685.
