Choose a career with us and make a difference! We're looking for a dedicated Maintenance Worker to join our team at our Animal Centre!

In this vital role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the grounds and buildings of our Animal Centre are safe, functional, and well-maintained. You'll be working across 100 acres of land, providing essential support to our animal care team and ensuring a safe environment for staff, visitors, and animals.

  • Working hours: 35 hours / Mon - Friday 8:15 - 16:15
  • Face to face interview will take place on 15th May

What a day might look like for you

Here at RSPCA no two days are the same, as a Maintenance Worker we've added a short summary of what a typical day might look like, for a full insight please refer to the attached job description.

  • Maintain gardens and grounds to a high standard.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, fixtures, fittings, equipment, and machinery.
  • Maintain and repair animal enclosures and exercise areas to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Test and maintain security and fire alarm systems and assist with risk assessments.
  • Assist with handling, loading, and transporting animals, including deceased animals.
  • Oversee the work of external contractors.

 

What you'll bring:
  • Experience in land/grounds maintenance.
  • Proven experience in a maintenance/groundsman role.
  • Competence in using a wide range of hand and power tools.
  • Full, valid driving license.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks independently and under pressure.

 

Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
