Maintenance Worker (3026)
We are looking for a Maintenance Worker to join us at RSPCA Mallydams Wood Wildlife Centre. The centre rehabilitates British wildlife, from garden birds to foxes and seals . This is a role for someone with a strong work ethic and proven maintenance experience. In this position you will play a key role in maintaining the functionality, safety and cleanliness of our facilities.
Working hours: 14 hours a week. The post holder would be responsible supporting our current maintenance

We are ideally looking for an individual who is able to commit to 14 hours per week with experience within manual labour such as Plumbing, Electrics & general repairs.
- Managing contractors when they are on site
- Experience in manual labour plumbing, electrics & general maintenance.
- Specialist maintenance of seal enclosure and filtration system
- Routine maintenance and repairs to buildings and animal accommodations;
- Emergency fire alarm testing
- Security alarms
- Basic check on vehicles (lights, tyres) - Troubleshooting machinery, equipment or facilities failures
- Small amount of gardening
- Maintaining site and grounds
- Chainsaw qualifications and forestry experience an advantage
We are looking for a proactive and friendly person who is able to effectively plan their daily workload and has good verbal and written communication skills. Our ideal candidate also has:

- Health and safety knowledge - we have regular site inspections checks
- Proven experience in a maintenance or grounds role
- Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Experience with a wide range of tools (training provided)
- Experience of supervising contractors
- Knowledge of COSHH and the handling and storing of substances hazardous to health
- Experience of a wide range of power tools, tractors and land management equipment
- A full driving licence
Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
