We are looking for a new team member as a Senior Clinician on a permanent basis, based at our East Winch Wildlife Centre.

Working hours: 35 hours per week. Our Senior Clinician will work on a rota basis, which will entail working for out of hours, bank holidays and weekends.

Contract: Permanent.

Location: East Winch Wildlife Centre,Kings Lynn, Norfolk, PE321LG.

What a day might look like for you

RSPCA East Winch Wildlife Centre is one of the four wildlife centres of the RSPCA. We rehabilitate and release British wildlife, ranging from mice, birds, hedgehogs, badgers, deer to seals. We are the largest seal rehabilitation centre in the U.K. 

We take a holistic and team-based approach to individual animal treatment and recognise the importance of committing as much time as we can to focussing on the welfare of the animals that come into our care. This means that you get to work with some amazing, passionate, and supportive team members to focus on what is best for the animals you see. 

In wildlife centres, the senior clinician is the named veterinary surgeon for the site's RCVS Registered Practice Premise and is responsible for the site's management and audit of veterinary medicines in line with RSPCA processes and regulatory requirements. This includes facilitation of VMD inspections, with compliance supported by the Wildlife Centre manager. 

The Senior Clinician is also responsible for the site's compliance with wider legislation relevant to the provision of veterinary care, ensuring the maintenance of site standards to the equivalent of at least Core Standards of the RCVS Veterinary Practice Standards scheme where relevant.

The Senior Clinician will manage veterinary staff, lead on veterinary SOPs, protocols, veterinary administration, be the lead Radiation Protection Advisor and oversee animal cases ensuring high standards of animal welfare. In addition the senior clinician will be responsible for training of our staff and partners where appropriate, amongst other responsibilities. 

What you'll bring:

We're looking for a pragmatic Senior Clinician with experience of working in a charity or shelter medicine environment.

This role requires expertise and experience of clinical leadership that enhances patient care and of leading a high performing team.

Additionally you will need:

  • Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
  • Previous clinical experience and/or additional qualifications.
  • Good standard of presentation.
  • Professional approach to veterinary care and clinic practice.
  • A conscientious  approach to work. 
  • The ability to work efficiently, safely and well under time pressures.

 

Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
