A bit about us

Do you want to create a better world for animals? At the RSPCA, we believe all animals deserve kindness and respect. We work for the benefit of every animal – as well as pets, that includes farmed animals, wildlife, and animals used in science. Choose a career with us and make a difference for every kind.

We are looking for a new team member as a Prosecutions Operations Manager, where you will work closely with our prosecution support team.

Contract: Permanent

Working hours: 35 hours - Monday to Friday.

Location: The role requires hybrid working, with 2-3 days a week at the Horsham Hub.

What a day might look like for you

You will be a strategic leader, working with the Head of Prosecutions to shape the direction of our department, while also acting as an individual contributor who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and dive into the data.

From managing complex databases to overseeing sensitive conviction data, your work will be integral to our mission to bring animal abusers to justice.

As our Prosecutions Operations Manager, we will look to you to:

  • Manage and mentor our prosecution support teams; fostering an agile and multifunctional culture.
  • Collaborate with department leadership and assist in change management initiatives.
  • Act as the guardian of our prosecution databases; you will ensure strict adherence to Data Protection legislation, managing sensitive information where accuracy is crucial.
  • Oversee financial expenditure, manage supplier relationships (including HMCTS Fee accounts), and co-ordinate complex complaints.
  • Overseeing the allocation of case manager workloads.
What will help you succeed in this role:

To succeed within this role, it is essential that you have experience of handling highly confidential data under the Data Protection Act.

It is also essential that you are resilient, as you will be exposed to graphic imagery and distressing details of animal neglect and cruelty daily. Emotional fortitude is essential.

We are looking for someone with proven experience in financial management, budgetary preparation and IT systems (specifically Google Workspace), who has the proven ability to work autonomously; prioritising conflicting deadlines, while maintaining high levels of accuracy under pressure. Experience in managing projects or change management would be advantageous.

The position requires strong relationship building and management skills, as you will work with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation. You must be strong at negotiating and influencing at all levels.

If this sounds like the ideal next step in your career, please apply today! We look forward to receiving your application.

Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK - We are unable to sponsor visas at RSPCA

Final note from us & good luck with your application!

Interviews will be held remotely on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June.

We want to ensure we do all we can to give you a positive candidate experience through our recruitment. Whilst we do try to give feedback where we can, sometimes due to receiving high levels of applications, this may not always be possible

Our vision is a world where all animals are respected and treated with kindness and compassion. Our purpose is to inspire everyone to create a better world for animals. We are building the future of a diverse Society, and our priority is to support animal welfare by finding people from all backgrounds who are committed  to our purpose.  For this reason we actively encourage a wide diversity of applications - in particular from members of minority ethnic groups, and people with disabilities - as these candidates are currently under-represented at the RSPCA. Your transferable skills & lived experiences could make you a valuable addition to our RSPCA Family!

We're here to support you and encourage you to let us know if you need any adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process. Please feel free to contact us at resourcingteam@rspca.org.uk or 0300 123 0685 so we can ensure the process works for you.
