Do you want to help create a better world for animals?
At the RSPCA, we believe animal welfare is everyone's welfare. Join us in creating a better world for every animal. We can do it if we work together — everyone for every animal. Choose a career with us and make a difference.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Media Officer to join the RSPCA's Press, Media and Social Engagement team to engage our audiences across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest and TikTok.
This role is fundamental in educating people about animals' needs, informing people about animal welfare developments, showcasing the work of the RSPCA, promoting ways for people to get involved, engaging them in legislative campaigns, helping animals find forever homes, and finding perpetrators of animal cruelty.
We're looking for an organised, creative, analytical and dedicated individual who loves social media and wants to help change the lives of animals for the better.
Here at RSPCA no two days are the same, so we've added a short summary of what a typical day might look like. For a full insight please refer to the attached job description.
- Creating and delivering social media content, including producing creative and writing copy
- Community management, including dealing with confrontational people and upsetting (sometimes graphic) content depicting animal cruelty
- Reporting on the success of campaigns
- Providing support to the field on their use of social media
- Assisting in the management of online volunteers
- Supporting influencer outreach in order to amplify our messaging to new audiences
Experience:
- Demonstrable experience of managing social media campaigns (i.e. creating content such as reels and TikToks, reporting on success, and community management), preferably for a medium to large business, charity or agency
- Experience of building and managing relationships with online communities
- Experience of using social networks in a business context using online marketing techniques
- Experienced in managing a varied workload and working with numerous stakeholders
- Basic analytical skills (experience of interrogating systems and compiling reports)
- Creative skills, including basic video editing and image manipulation
- A true passion for animal welfare and resilience to manage upsetting content
Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles may need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK as we are unable to sponsor visas.
We want to ensure we do all we can to give you a positive candidate experience through our recruitment. Whilst we do try to give feedback where we can, sometimes due to receiving high levels of applications, this may not always be possible
Our vision is a world where all animals are respected and treated with kindness and compassion. Our purpose is to inspire everyone to create a better world for animals. We are building the future of a diverse Society, and our priority is to support animal welfare by finding people from all backgrounds who are committed to our purpose. For this reason we actively encourage a wide diversity of applications - in particular from members of minority ethnic groups, and people with disabilities - as these candidates are currently under-represented at the RSPCA.
We're here to support you and encourage you to let us know if you need any adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process. Please feel free to contact us at resourcingteam@rspca.org.uk or 0300 123 0685 so we can ensure the process works for you.
